CleanPlanet Day in October
Santa Marta, Colombia – In the heart of October, I found myself in Santa Marta, Colombia. Staying with my friend Juan Sebastian, who just so happens to be the first official volunteer of CleanPlanet. That morning, the weather was unusually dark, an uncommon sight for Santa Marta. However, just before the rain could intensify, while it was barely sprinkling, more like a mist, I felt a calling.
I connected with my medicine, grabbed a trash bag, and made my way over to the beach. It was a unique opportunity - a moment of solitude amidst the elements. I used this time to meditate, to connect with the wind, to be with my thoughts, all while quietly cleaning up after humanity, taking part in the larger mission of cleaning our planet.
Now, you might think, "What difference can one person picking up a bag of trash make?" It's a valid question, and the answer is simple: it's about doing my part. It's about contributing one grain to the vast desert of environmental change. It's about inspiring others to join in, one grain at a time, until we collectively form something as significant as the largest desert on Earth.
CleanPlanet Day, for me, was a moment of meditation and connection. It was a chance to be intimately connected with the act of making the world a better place. Sometimes, the most profound changes start with the simplest actions. Will this single act change the world? Probably not. But can it be the first step in evolving into a global conscious movement that strives for a clean and sustainable planet where we coexist harmoniously with all its inhabitants?
I believe it can.
