September CleanPlanet Day in Taganga:

Writer: Sebastian HernandezSebastian Hernandez

Our September CleanPlanet Day was a success, even if it wasn't as big as I initially envisioned. What made it truly special, though, was the presence of new faces. I sent out a message to our community WhatsApp group, and on the clean-up day, we welcomed three new participants—people I had never met before. It reminded us that even small efforts can bring new energy and growth to our mission.

As we began, we assigned each participant a specific role, focusing on collecting certain types of trash. This approach made the process smoother, as all the waste was separated from the beginning, easing the burden of sorting at the end.

We've been returning to the same area for our clean-ups for the last three months. I have to say, the results are encouraging.

Each time we return, there is less trash. This tells me that our efforts are not going to waste. People are watching, and our presence is making a difference.

We're setting the example that it's okay—even necessary—to pick up trash, care for our environment, and call out those who litter.

Change Starts with Us

This is what CleanPlanet is all about. Little by little, it's up to us to make the change we want to see. Every time we clean up, we show our community that caring for our environment is possible and important. Every piece of trash we pick up is a step towards a cleaner, healthier world. We're proving that one person's actions can inspire many more.

Coming Together as a Community

After the clean-up, we gathered for refreshments and enjoyed a local favorite, arepa de huevo—a simple but meaningful way to celebrate our collective effort. We shared ideas and discussed potential projects to keep our community moving forward. These moments of connection are vital. They remind us that CleanPlanet is not just about picking up trash; it's about building a stronger, more sustainable community.

Looking Ahead

As we continue our efforts, I’m more confident than ever that we’re on the right path. Our impact is growing, and each person joining us—whether for the first time or as a returning participant—contributes to a more significant movement. The success of this CleanPlanet Day shows that every little effort counts, and together, we’re creating the change we wish to see.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and those who continue supporting
